Working For NASA: Your Work Environment, Facilities, and Services

Your Work

Many of your co-workers report that each day as they report to work they feel as though they are taking part in the making of our Nation’s history…and indeed -- they are!

Although the major parts of this benefits guide discuss your more tangible benefits, perhaps the most important benefit of working for NASA is your job itself.

Beyond receiving a paycheck, the majority of NASA employees find the most important benefit of working for NASA  is the opportunity to perform challenging, significant work while working alongside dedicated, highly competent co-workers. From clerk-trainee to astronaut, most of your co-workers understand the work that each of us do is important to the continuing success and future of human space flight.

When you consider your safe, well maintained work environment, a relatively secure job future, numerous employment protections, and state-of -the-art tools and equipment, you will understand why many NASA employees choose to spend their entire careers at NASA and why tens of thousands apply to work here. NASA is a great place to work!

NASA Centers have a combination of services that contribute to the employee quality of work life. The mix of amenities include: cafeterias, exchange stores, recreation centers, clinics, personal counseling and childcare. To see the specific services offered by your center, select your center from the "My NASA Center" map on the Employee Orientation site. On the left side of your Employee Orientation center page, select the link under the "Quality of Work Life" heading to view your center quality of work life information.
