SUBJECT: Health Benefits Open Season

Health Benefits Open Season begins next week on November 13th and will run through December 11th. Complete plan brochures and rates are available on our Benefits web site or in the Human Resources Services Center, Building 12, room 105. A few important changes this year to note:

  • Government Employees Hospital Association (GEHA) will be offering both High Option and Standard Option plans. If you are currently enrolled in GEHA, you will automatically receive the High Option plan. You may make a change to Standard Option during the Open Season if you prefer.
  • Addition of two HMO plans - Amcare Health Plan and HMO Blue
  • Merger of Prudential with Aetna - if you're enrolled in Prudential, you will be switched to Aetna or you may select a new plan
  • Merger of NYLCare with HMO Blue - if you're enrolled in NYLCare, you will be switched to HMO Blue or you may select a new plan
  • Termination of two other HMO plans - Humana and Texas Health Choice
  • Government Employees Hospital Association (GEHA) is offering a dental plan open to all federal employees even if you're not a GEHA subscriber.

As a new service for our customers, we are now making available the opportunity for you to make changes to your health care coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through Employee Express. You will need to have the following information available before you call or visit the web site:

  • Your Social Security Number
  • Your Employee Express PIN number
  • The new health plan name/code
  • Your Family Members' names, social security numbers, and birth dates

Be sure to confirm your change and ask for a confirmation letter for your records. Though making changes through the web is easier, if you prefer you may call 1-800-571-3453. The number for hearing impaired is 888-880-0412. If you have misplaced your Employee Express PIN number, please call their Help Desk at 912-757-3030.

Our annual Benefits Fair is scheduled for Wednesday, November 29th from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Gilruth Center. Representatives from healthcare related providers will be present to meet with you and discuss their health plans. If you need more information or assistance, you may contact your Employee Services Representative.
